When it was revealed that De’Aaron Fox would likely leave the Sacramento Kings, one team was instantly spoken of as a new home for him.
Sure enough, Fox eventually moved to the San Antonio Spurs and that’s no coincidence, according to Fox.
The 27-year-old guard has opened up about how the trade process went down and revealed that the Spurs were the only team he wanted to play for.
“There was no f—–g list. I wanted to go to San Antonio. A lot of people are mad, saying I handcuffed the team. Well, this is my career. It’s not my job to help build your team. I’m not about to just go where they want me to go,” Fox said, per Michael C. Wright and Legion Hoops.

Reports quickly came out saying that Fox wanted to play for the Spurs and only the Spurs.
This has happened with other NBA stars before and fans often say it’s a bad move because it puts their current team in a very difficult position.
They are forced to lose all leverage and do whatever they must to move the player to their preferred destination.
But according to this quote, Fox didn’t care about that.
He was adamant about going to the Spurs and didn’t care what sort of position that put the Kings in.
It was a difficult process for Sacramento but they were eventually able to make a deal happen, sending Fox to the Spurs while receiving Zach LaVine and picks.
Fox was born and raised in Texas and was eager to go back home, especially to a team that has a generational player like Victor Wembanyama.
Since coming to San Antonio, he has averaged 19.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.6 assists.
He obviously feels very comfortable with his new squad, and the path he’s taken to get here.
